ABOUT US
Prayer. Hospitality. Joy.
We are passionate about our churches becoming known as places of prayer, hospitality and joy where everyone is welcomed and celebrated, and where God’s love in Jesus Christ is shown and shared, in good times and hard times alike.
We believe in an inclusive Church – church which does not discriminate on any level, including: economic power, gender, gender identity, mental health, mental ability, physical ability, race or sexuality.
We believe in a Church which welcomes, accepts and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ.
Reverend Kalantha Brewis
I am the Vicar for our four churches: the Benefice of Hallow, Grimley with Holt and Lower Broadheath, which we call “The West Worcester Beacon”. I have been serving in these parishes since January 2020, and I am privileged to work with a wonderful team here, in a beautiful part of Worcestershire. Before I was ordained, I worked as a solicitor and also as a registered childminder, while I was raising my family.
I was not brought up in a Christian household, so I do understand that sometimes walking across a church threshold can feel daunting! But please know you will always be welcomed here.
Whatever your questions about faith, I would love to explore them with you. I look forward to meeting you!
Reverend Paul Wilcox
I moved to Worcester from Lichfield with my family in 2004, and following a nudge from God, I joined Hallow Church in 2018! The church family of Hallow and the wider West Worcester Beacon have been fully loving and embracing.
They have also provided a secure, caring and prayerful ‘home base’ from which I have been able to pursue ordination training and I was ordained as a priest on 1st July 2023 in Worcester Cathedral.
I work part-time in the Benefice and the rest of my time is taken up with running a small retreat centre, Chapel House in Hallow, as well as working as a freelance mentor/coach and chairing the Board of Governors at the Chantry School in Martley.
Reverend David Morphy
I was born and grew up in Liverpool…. So a mean Beatles fan. I worshipped at the Parish Church of Our Lady and St Nicholas at the Pier Head.
I came to Worcester University in 1967 to train as a Secondary School teacher. I very much enjoyed teaching in four Worcestershire High schools.
I have been a “Worker Priest” for over 30 years. I now serve as a Church School Governor at Hallow School. My last job was as the Director of all Church Schools in the Diocese of Worcester.
My wife, Annie and I, were warmly welcomed into Hallow Church and the Beacon Churches some 3 years ago.
Reverend Sheila Nall
I joined Hallow Church recently, following our move to Hallow from Worcester, and am delighted to be part of the Ministry Team at the West Worcester Beacon. My ministry was spent as a Prison Chaplain – a world away from parish ministry.
Consequently, my experience of weddings, funerals and all the rites that form part of the fabric of being church for the community are, shall we say, not familiar to me.
It’s been a challenge and I am grateful for all the help I have received. It’s an exhilarating ride!
