Keeping Hallow Church Open For Everyone

Updated: Aug 29

At Hallow church, we want to build a welcoming and inclusive community, with our church building available to everyone who might want to gather there- not just for Sunday services but for Craft Fairs, Concerts, Parish meetings, Parent and Toddler groups, and more! For example, we’ve recently hosted a fundraiser for the Worcester FoodBank and this autumn we are hosting an Awards night for Wild Goose Rural Training, as well as fundraising concerts for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven and Opera Worcester.

We know that even if you might not think of yourself as a regular churchgoer, many of you value the church as a place to gather for baptisms, weddings and funerals, school services; at Christmas, Remembrance, Harvest and Easter, and just as a place to find a bit of peace and quiet.

We need to keep the building warm and dry – both to prevent damage to the structure and to keep it comfortable for anyone who might want to use it.

Unfortunately, like the rest of the building, our heating system was designed in the 1860s! The Victorian radiator pipes are now corroded beyond repair and, even if we could replace them, the national church won’t permit us to replace our gas boiler like for like, as it is a long way from being eco-friendly.

So- we are unable to repair or replace our current system.

We have had a professional energy audit undertaken, and the recommendation is for us to upgrade our incoming electrical supply, and to install panel heaters and under pew heating.

The current estimate for doing this is approximately £50,000.

The Parish Council has made us a generous grant of £10,000 towards this project- but that still leaves us with a lot of money to find as a parish church. We are determined to do everything we can to keep our church open, warm and welcoming for everyone.

Please will you help us? Any gift you can make- one off or regular, Gift Aided or not, will make a real difference to keeping the church warm, dry and welcoming for everyone.

You can donate:

·         by BACS to: PCC OF HALLOW , Sort Code: 55-81-36 , Account: 90113179,

·         by cheque- payable to PCC of Hallow, dropped at the Vicarage,

·         or contact our Treasurer David Heywood at david.heywood1@talktalk.net for details of how to make a regular gift.

Thank you so much for your support. Let’s keep the church open, and warm, for everyone.

Blessings,

Revd Kalantha
